Point out your concerns first. Tell your GP at the start about anything that has changed, itched or bled.

Examination. Your GP examines the areas of concern and, where appropriate, your whole skin.

Next steps. Depending on findings, your GP may photograph and monitor a lesion, treat it, take a biopsy, or refer you on.

Results and review. Any pathology result is discussed with you, and a recall set if monitoring is the plan.

Our doctors are independent practitioners and set their own fees. Reception can advise the fee policy of the doctor you are seeing, but cannot confirm the exact amount before your visit — your doctor selects the Medicare item number on the day, based on the length and complexity of the consultation. A full skin check is a longer consultation. If a biopsy or excision is performed, a procedure item number applies and pathology is billed separately by the laboratory. Fees are payable on the day by EFTPOS or credit card. We can transmit your Medicare claim electronically so your rebate is returned the same day.

I need a quick appointment, can you fit me in?
A small number of same-day appointments are set aside — ring reception on 4202 6900. Sick children and pregnant women are prioritised.
What are the best parking options?
Public car parks on Railway Pde, on Station St over the railway bridge, and the large public car park on Church St.
How are fees set?
The doctors are independent practitioners who set their own fees; reception can advise each doctor's fee policy before your visit.
How often should I have a skin check?
That depends on your skin type, sun exposure and personal or family history. Your GP will recommend an interval for you.
What should I do before the appointment?
Remove nail polish if you want your nails checked, and avoid make-up if facial spots are a concern. Wear something easy to change out of.
Will something be removed on the day?
Sometimes. More often a lesion needing removal is booked as a separate, longer procedure appointment.
When will I get results?
If a specimen goes to pathology, your GP will arrange a follow-up to discuss the result.
