How it works

How we deliver

Ring reception on (02) 4202 6900 if you need to be seen today. A small number of same-day appointments are set aside each day, and sick children and pregnant women are prioritised.

Choose how you are seen. Straightforward problems are often handled by telephone or video; anything needing examination should be face to face.

Your consultation. Your GP assesses the problem and agrees the next step with you.

Scripts and tests. E-scripts can be sent straight to your phone, with pathology or radiology request forms and a medical certificate provided during the appointment.

If things change. If you worsen outside our hours, contact Radiodoctor Illawarra or attend the Urgent Primary Care Centre at Bulli Hospital. Call 000 in an emergency.

Our doctors are independent practitioners and set their own fees. Reception can advise the fee policy of the doctor you are seeing, but cannot confirm the exact amount before your visit — your doctor selects the Medicare item number on the day, based on the length and complexity of the consultation. Most acute appointments are standard-length consultations. If your problem is complex or needs a procedure, a longer item number may apply. Fees are payable on the day by EFTPOS or credit card. We can transmit your Medicare claim electronically so your rebate is returned the same day.

What are your opening hours?
8:30am–4:30pm Monday to Friday, closed public holidays. After hours: Radiodoctor Illawarra 4228 5522 (bulk-billed home visit or telephone), or the Urgent Primary Care Centre at Bulli Hospital 4249 1300.
I need a quick appointment, can you fit me in?
A small number of same-day appointments are set aside — ring reception on 4202 6900. Sick children and pregnant women are prioritised.
What are the best parking options?
Public car parks on Railway Pde, on Station St over the railway bridge, and the large public car park on Church St.
How are fees set?
The doctors are independent practitioners who set their own fees; reception can advise each doctor's fee policy before your visit.
I need to be seen today — can you fit me in?
Ring reception on (02) 4202 6900. A small number of same-day appointments are set aside each day. Sick children and pregnant women are prioritised.
Can I do this by telephone or video?
Our doctors consult by telephone and video as well as face to face. To receive a Medicare rebate you must have seen the doctor in person within the previous 12 months, with some exemptions. Medicare no longer funds telephone consultations longer than 19 minutes, so book a video consultation for a 20-minute appointment.
What if I get worse after hours?
Contact Radiodoctor Illawarra on (02) 4228 5522 for a bulk-billed home visit or telephone consultation, or attend the Urgent Primary Care Centre at Bulli Hospital on (02) 4249 1300. In an emergency, call 000.
Can I get a medical certificate?
Yes — your doctor can provide a certificate during the consultation and email it to you.
What is acute care at a GP practice?
Acute care is treatment for recent illness or injury — infections, fevers, sprains, cuts, rashes, coughs and other short-term problems.
What should I do if I'm unwell outside your hours?
We're open Monday to Friday 8:30am–4:30pm. Outside these hours, contact your after-hours service, healthdirect on 1800 022 222, or call 000 in an emergency.
When should I go to hospital instead?
Call 000 for chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, stroke symptoms or any life-threatening emergency — don't wait for a GP appointment.
Do you treat minor injuries?
Yes — including wound care, dressings and assessment of sprains and minor injuries.
Can I be treated by phone or video?
Many acute problems can be assessed by telehealth, though some need an in-person examination. Reception can advise when you book.
Will I get antibiotics for my cold?
Most coughs and colds are viral and don't improve with antibiotics. Your GP will advise what will actually help.
Can children be seen for acute illness?
Yes — we care for patients of all ages, including infants and children.
